Attending the Mayor’s River O’ Green Fest? Below are some common FAQs to help you enjoy a perfect day in Downtown Tampa.


Where can I park / How do I get there?

There are several options available.

Parking is available for a nominal rate at multiple locations adjacent to the event, including the William F. Poe Parking Garage north of Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park (600 N. Ashley Drive, Tampa, FL 33602). On-street parking in Downtown Tampa is free of charge north of Kennedy Boulevard after 6:00 pm on weekdays and all-day on weekends. Standard parking fares apply at all other times.

We encourage you to park once to enjoy the Mayor’s River O’ Green Fest at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park and walk the beautiful Tampa Riverwalk to other downtown destinations. Are dogs allowed?

Leashed dogs are welcome on the Tampa Riverwalk, adjacent downtown parks and the Mayor’s River O’ Green event areas. Dogs are not allowed to drink beer or swim in the green river. 🙂

Is Mayor’s River O’ Green Fest free to attend?

Mayor’s River O’ Green Fest is free to attend and is open to all ages. The event vendors offer food and drink for purchase. Additional programming such as the River O’ Green Gallop and Shamrock Scavenger Crawl require a participation fee.


What are the hours?

The River O’ Green Gallop kicks off the day at 9:30am with a 2-mile fun run/walk, with registration beginning at 8:00am. Mayor’s River O’ Green Fest is from 11:00am until 5:00pm. The dyeing of the Hillsborough River begins at 11:00am. The Shamrock Scavenger Crawl begins at 4:00pm with registration available from 11:00am – 3:00pm.


Is the green dye safe?

The dye is safe for humans and wildlife. It is used in food and in eye surgery to trace blood vessels.
